Northwest Portland Remodel and Addition

The owners purchased this home in NW Portland with the intention of remodeling the entire main floor and finishing an unfinished attic space. As the design evolved, the project scope increased to include the removal of the entire roof and attic space in order to add a full second floor nestled into the new roof forms. The new addition fits into the character of the historic neighborhood due to its small scale, but creates a huge impact on the livability and size of the home.

While keeping much of the original character of the home in the living and dining room, the original garage was converted to a family room and opens up to a new, expanded kitchen and to the newly landscaped backyard. The new second floor houses a master suite, 2 bedrooms and a kids' bathroom
